SCENE 1
Dr. Smith is sitting on the couch. There is a knock at the door. Dr. Smith goes and opens the
door to find an exhausted Jonathan dressed in a full soccer kit.
Dr. Smith: Oh hey! What brings you back so early?
Jonathan: Hey, Dr. Smith. Sorry to drop in- my head’s been killing me. Can I come in?
Dr. Smith: Oh, for sure. Make yourself at home.
*Jonathan makes his way into the house in a daze, Dr. Smith follows behind.

SCENE 2
In the living room, Jonathan is sitting on the couch. Dr. Smith is sitting next to him.
Dr. Smith: So what’s troubling you man?
Jonathan: I dunno. One minute I was at practice getting a workout in and the next there’s this
throbbing pain in my head. I don’t know what the problem is
Dr. Smith: hmmm..
Jonathan: What?
Dr. Smith: Nothing… It’s just that…
Jonathan: Just What?
Dr. Smith: Well you’re not gonna believe me when I tell you this…
Jonathan: T ell me what?
Dr. Smith: Well… you’re a robot.
Jonathan: A robot? No way…Dr. Smith: I’m serious! T ell you what- that pain that you’re experiencing is probably because
you’re running low on battery. Here I’ll show you. Follow me.
Dr. Smith leaves the room. Jonathan follows..

SCENE 3
In a different room, Jonathan is standing upright near a wall outlet. He is attached to a
“charging device.
” Dr. Smith is kneeling beside him.
Jonathan: So you’re telling me that this thing will “charge me” ?
Dr. Smith: Yes.
Jonathan: And “charging me” will get rid of my headaches?
Dr. Smith: Yes.
Jonathan: I’m not so sure about this.
Dr. Smith: Don’t worry you’ll be fine. You’ll be back to normal in no time.
Jonathan: (reluctantly) If you say so…
Dr. Smith fidgets with the charging device and makes some last minute alterations.
Dr. Smith: When I plug this in you might feel a slight tingling sensation.
Jonathan: A wha-
Jonathan’s speech is interrupted abruptly as Dr. Smith plugs the charging device into the wall
outlet. He stands ramrod straight, with his arms straight at his side and his legs squarely
aligned with his shoulders, like a soldier. He is silent a few seconds before he speaks, in a
monotone, mindless voice.
Jonathan: Unit 3-9-3-6 now charging. Current battery level- 3%.
Dr. Smith: That’s more like it. Hopefully recharging you will help with all the malfunctioning.
END SCENESCENE 4
We are in a new room. Jonathan is now removed from his charging station and is now “shut
off.
” He is standing upright with his head sunken into his chest and his hands laying limp at his
sides. Dr. Smith enters the room and approaches Jonathan.
Dr. Smith: Ugh, you’re so hot…
Dr. Smith feels up and down Jonathan’s body for a moment [if Jonathan is okay with this]; He
then takes a step away from the robot.
Dr. Smith: Alright-let’s power you on.
Dr. Smith approaches the robot and presses a button behind his neck. The robot powers on.
His head rises slowly, mechanically. Then his arms rise so that his elbows form a 90 degree
angle and his hands are squarely in front of him. He speaks in a monotone, mindless voice
Jonathan: Unit 3-9-3-6 activated. Good morning, Dr. Smith, how may be of service?
Dr. Smith: Well, I was looking to get some cleaning done around the house- but I need some
help- are you up for it?
The robot speaks with a smile.
Jonathan: Yes, Master. Anything for you, Master.
Dr. Smith: Good. Now before we get started, I’m gonna need you to undress.
Jonathan: Acknowledged. Initiating undressing sequence.
The robot undresses mechanically until he is stripped to his boxers [if Jonathan is okay with
this].
Jonathan: Undressing sequence complete.
Dr. Smith: Perfect. Now please follow me.
Jonathan: Yes, Master.
Dr. Smith exits the room, with Jonathan trailing behind, walking slowly, robotically.
END SCENESCENE 5
Dr. Smith and Jonathan are in the kitchen. Jonathan is standing with his hands squarely in front
of him, wearing nothing but a chippendales-style bow tie and boxers.
Dr. Smith: Alright. Let’s go ahead and activate servant-mode.
Jonathan: Acknowledged. Servant mode activated.
Jonathan goes about cleaning the house for Dr. Smith. (Dusting, wiping, etc….) Eventually, he
shifts from cleaning to preparing food. When he has finished preparing his dish for Dr. Smith,
the camera zooms on his face.
Jonathan: [With a smile] Dinner is ready.
Jonathan brings the dish to Dr. Smith. He then pours Dr. Smith a glass of wine. As Dr. Smith
eats his food, Jonathan stands idly at his side, awaiting his next command. Fade to the next
scene.

SCENE 6
We are in the bedroom. Jonathan is seen sitting on the bed, powered off. His back is aligned
with the headrest, his head is once more sunken into his chest, and his arms lay limp at his
sides. His legs lay straight ahead of him. He remains bare of all clothes save for his boxers and
chippendales bow tie. Dr. Smith approaches the robot.
Dr. Smith: Alright. Let’s try out exercise mode.
Dr. Smith presses a button located on the backside of the robot’s neck. His eyes open, and his
head rises slowly, mechanically. His arms rise slowly until his hands are squarely in front of him
(his elbows form a 90 degree angle).
Jonathan: Unit 3-9-3-6 activated. How may I be of service this afternoon?
Dr. Smith: Activate exercise mode.
Jonathan: Acknowledged. Activating exercise mode.
Jonathan stands from bed. Now standing, his head rotates slowly to face Dr. Smith.Jonathan: Awaiting exercise command.
Dr. Smith has Jonathan perform various sets of exercises (jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups,
etc.). After a while, the robot experiences a low-battery error. While completing an assigned
exercise, he freezes up.
Jonathan: Warning. Battery levels critically low. Unit will soon enter sleep mode. Locating
nearest power source
Dr. Smith: Already? I feel like I just charged you!.
The robot then goes about frantically searching for the charging station. He walks robotically
about the room in a malfunctioning panic. All the while repeating the phrases “ Warning. Battery
levels critically low. Locating nearest power source.
” After a minute of searching for a power
source without success (almost like a roomba searching for its docking station), the robot enters
the shutdown sequence. He seizes once more.
Jonathan: Warning. System failure.
While saying this, the robot collapses to the floor (akin to Jonah’s collapse in his robot video).
Dr. Smith: Oh, god. Let’s get you back to your charging station.
Dr. Smith approaches the robot’s limp, unconscious body on the floor, lifts him by the shoulders,
and drags him out of the room.
END SCENE
SCENE 7
Jonathan is sitting in an armchair, fully dressed. is connected to the charging device. His eyes are open and he is sitting upright. He
Dr. Smith is beside him.
Jonathan: Battery level 93%.
Dr. Smith begins to examine the robot. robot’s face for any imperfections/defects.
He lifts up the robot’s arms/legs, and inspects the
Jonathan: Battery level 94%.
Dr. Smith: Man, that fall really scuffed you up. (examines a bit longer). Let’s get you cleaned.
Dr. Smith unplugs the robot.Dr. Smith: Follow me.
Jonathan: Yes, Master.
Dr. Smith leaves the room and Jonathan stands to follow, walking mechanically behind.
END SCENE
SCENE 8
Both Jonathan and Dr. Smith find themselves in the bathroom. bathe himself.
Dr. Smith is having Jonathan
Dr. Smith: Let’s go ahead and have you undress.
Jonathan: Acknowledged. Undressing sequence initiated.
Jonathan undresses himself [If he is okay with this]. Dr. Smith takes a moment to admire
Jonathan’s body.
Jonathan: Undressing sequence complete.
Dr. Smith: Okay. Now step into the shower, if you will.
Jonathan: Acknowledged. He steps into the shower.
Dr. Smith: Perfect. Now I’m gonna go ahead and turn the water on and leave you to it. He turns
the water on. (Under his breath) I sure hope your waterproof sealant works…
Dr. Smith exits the room leaving Jonathan to his own devices. Jonathan is seen
showering/scrubbing himself for a few minutes. All seems according to plan until water seeps
into his hardware and his operating systems begin to malfunction. His eyes widen. His head
begins to twitch. His speech is slurred and neurotic. He begins forcibly jerking his body into the
surrounding walls.
Jonathan: System Error. Water in unit. Please insert- Plea- Error. Er- System Malfunction.
Sys- Error. Malfunct- Please inser- Remove water. Error. Er-Er- Malfunction. System. Error.
System. Sys- Err- Err- Err- Err- (PLEASE PROLONG THIS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THESE

Eventually, Jonathan’s fitful jerking comes to a stop.Jonathan: System… shutting… downnnnn…
Jonathan now stands upright with his head slumped into his chest and his arms limp at his
sides, once more. Dr. Smith re-enters the room and is initially confused at finding Jonathan in
this state. He turns off the water.
Dr. Smith: Jonathan? Jonathan? Hello? Aw, great.
He waves his hand in front of Jonathan’s face. Jonathan is unresponsive. Dr. Smith becomes
irritated once he realizes what has happened.
Dr. Smith: Ugh, I knew this would happen… all your hardware.
Let’s get you to my lab. Looks like I gotta replace
Dr. Smith drags the robot’s limp body out of the bathroom.
END SCENE
SCENE 9
We are in Dr. Smith’s lab. Jonathan, now fully clothed in the same soccer kit as the first scene,
is sitting on the examination table, asleep. He has electrical nodes attached to his face. It
seems Dr. Smith, dressed in a lab coat, is running some diagnostics. After a moment, he wakes
groggily, and it appears as though his human personality has returned.
Dr. Smith: Oh! You’re awake. How’d you sleep?
Jonathan, dazed, looks frantically about the laboratory.
Jonathan: Wha- where am I?
Dr. Smith: You’re in my lab, remember? You came to me this morning complaining about
headaches, right?
Jonathan reflects for a second before responding.
Jonathan: Yeah… yeah, I- I guess I do remember that…
Dr. Smith: So I prescribed you some pain medication…
Jonathan: What about that device you were going to use? The one you’d said would “charge me
”up.Dr. Smith: What are you talking about? You’ve been asleep all afternoon. Those meds must’ve
done a number on you.
Jonathan: But what about all that stuff you had me do?… The cooking and the cleaning…
Dr. Smith: You must’ve dreamt it.
Jonathan reflects once more.
Jonathan: (reluctantly): Yeah- yeah, I guess that makes sense… And what’s with all this stuff on
my face?
Dr. Smith: Oh, I was using those to monitor your vitals. Can’t have you dying on my watch, heh.
Jonathan: Oh- okay.
Jonathan sits pensively on the examination table while machines in the background beep away.
All of a sudden, he is reminded of something urgent he had forgotten.
Jonathan: Doctor, what time is it?
Dr. Smith: A quarter to seven.
Jonathan: Shit! I’m late!
Dr. Smith: For what?
Jonathan: A lifting session with a couple of my buddies. I promised I’d be there by 6:30. Shit!
Shit!
As he says this, he begins to frantically peel off the electrodes he has glued to his face. reaches for his shoes which are somewhere close by.

Dr. Smith: Woah- what are you doing?
Jonathan: I gotta go Dr. Smith. I can’t be late again. They’re were pissed last-
Before he finishes, Dr. Smith interjects.
Dr. Smith: You can’t just leave- the pain meds haven’t even worn off yet.
Jonathan: I appreciate your concern-but I’m sure I’ll be fine.
Jonathan begins to make for the exit.Dr. Smith: Wait!
Jonathan ignores Dr. Smith’s warning.
Jonathan: Thanks again for everything Dr. Smith. I don’t know what I’d do withou-
Jonathan is cut off mid-sentence. Just before leaving the frame, Jonathan’s head slumps over
and sinks into his chest, his arms go slack at his sides. [an audible *beep* noise would be good
here] The camera pans to reveal Dr. Smith holding a remote-control device. He has deactivated
Jonathan’s human personality.
Dr. Smith: It was a good thing I was able to program the remote-control in time. (speaking to the
robot) Can’t have you running off on me, can I? Let’s power you back on. We still have work to
do.
Dr. Smith fidgets with some of the buttons on the remote [audible beeps] and Jonathan’s head
once more rises mechanically, followed by his arms, which rise slowly until his hands are
squarely in front of him (90 degree elbow). His eyes open and he smiles mechanically.
Jonathan: Good evening, Doctor Smith. How may I be of service?
Dr. Smith: Follow me.
Jonathan (mindlessly): Yes, Master.
Dr. Smith exits the laboratory. Jonathan follows, obediently.
