Scene 1: Intimate Fascination (BEDROOM)
Jess sleeps peacefully, his breath soft and steady. Dr. Smith lies beside him, pressing his ear against Jess’s chest, eyes closed as he listens to the rhythmic thump of Jess’s heartbeat. A content smile spreads across Dr. Smith’s face, savoring each beat like a melody.
Dr. Smith gently places a hand on Jess’s chest, feeling the heartbeat beneath his palm. He applies slight pressure, his fascination intensifying as Jess stirs. Jess’s face tenses briefly, but he remains asleep.
Dr. Smith whispers softly.
DR. SMITH
(whispering)
Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
He releases the pressure, satisfied, and resumes listening, lost in his obsession.
Scene 2: Obsession in Action (LIVING ROOM)
Jess performs push-ups, beads of sweat trickling down his face. Dr. Smith watches intently, stethoscope in hand, eager to monitor Jess’s escalating heartbeat.
DR. SMITH
(encouraging)
Push harder, Jess. I want to hear it race.
Jess
(breathless, chuckling)
You’re obsessed, you know that?
Jess transitions into jumping jacks, his breath hitching as he struggles to keep pace. Dr. Smith remains fixated on the heart rate monitor, his focus unnervingly intense.
DR. SMITH
(softly)
Faster. Let it pound.
Jess grabs dumbbells and begins lifting, his muscles straining. His heart pounds against his ribs, breaths turning ragged. Dr. Smith places the stethoscope against Jess’s chest, savoring each rapid, forceful beat.
Scene 3: Dangerous Experiments (DR. SMITH’S HOME)
Jess is restrained on a gurney. Dr. Smith attaches ECG leads on his muscular chest. prepares an adrenaline syringe, his excitement barely contained.
Jess
(uneasy)
I don’t know about this…
DR. SMITH
(soothing)
It’s just a little test. You’ll be fine. Trust me.
Jess
(seriously)
And if something goes wrong?
DR. SMITH
(sincerely)
I’ll bring you back. I promise. I will attach this defibrillator to your chest in case you flatline.
Dr. Smith attaches AED pads to Jess’s chest and subsequently injects the adrenaline directly into his heart.
Jess gasps, his chest heaving as his heart rate skyrockets.
Jess
(panicked)
My heart… The adrenaline.. it’s too much…
Dr. Smith leans in, listening with his ear pressed to Jess’s chest. His eyes widen with fascination.
DR. SMITH
(breathless)
Incredible.
Jess’s breathing grows labored, his heart rhythm turning erratic. Dr Smith injects another miligram of adrenaline to Jess’s chest.
Jess
(weakly)
No… stop…
Jess feels a sharp pain on his chest. Jess suddenly collapses. The ECG flatlines. Dr. Smith springs into action, performing CPR with focused intensity.
DR. SMITH
(focused)
Come on, Jess. Stay with me.
He delivers the first AED shock. Jess’s body jolts violently. The flatline persists.
DR. SMITH
(urgent)
Clear!
He delivers shock after shock, alternating with chest compressions. Sweat beads on Dr. Smith’s forehead as he counts each compression aloud.
After eight grueling rounds, Jess gasps as his heartbeat returns. His eyes flutter open, filled with fear and confusion.
Jess
(weakly)
What… happened?
DR. SMITH
(relieved, brushing his hair back)
You’re okay. I saved you.
Jess looks away, discomfort and mistrust growing.
Scene 4: Breakup (DR. SMITH’S HOME)
Jess watches the video of his resuscitation on Dr. Smith’s laptop, his face pale with disbelief.
Jess
(angry, voice shaking)
I think what you’re doing is dangerous and borderline criminal
DR. SMITH
(calmly)
Your heart, Jess.. It’s perfect.
Jess
(firmly)
This isn’t normal. I can’t do this anymore. I’m leaving.
Jess grabs his bag and heads toward the door. Dr. Smith blocks his path, his expression darkening.
DR. SMITH
(quietly)
You’re not leaving.
Jess
(defiant)
Get out of my way.
Dr. Smith suddenly grabs Jess’s arm, pulling him back with surprising force.
Jess
(struggling)
Let me go, Smith!
Dr. Smith pulls a pendant from his pocket and dangles it before Jess’s eyes.
DR. SMITH
(softly)
Calm down, Jess. Just look at this. Breathe.
Jess
(confused)
What… what are you doing?
Dr. Smith’s voice lowers, steady and commanding.
DR. SMITH
You’re tired. Let me help you. Focus on the light.
Jess’s resistance falters. His body relaxes as his gaze locks onto the pendant.
DR. SMITH
(softly)
That’s it. Good. Just listen to me now.
As Jess succumbs, Dr. Smith moves behind him, wrapping his hands around Jess’s neck.
Jess
(choking)
No… please…
DR. SMITH
(intensely)
You’re mine, Jess. You’ll always be mine.
Jess’s body goes limp. Dr. Smith lowers him to the floor, checks his pulse, and smirks.
Scene 5: Torture and Tragedy (DR. SMITH’S LAB)
Jess awakens strapped to a medical gurney. His breaths come in short, panicked gasps. His chest has been equipped with ECG electrodes and AED pads are attached on his chest already. This seems too familiar..
Jess
(terrified)
What is this… not this again… let me go!
DR. SMITH
(calmly)
I can’t. You’re too important to me.
Dr. Smith prepares another adrenaline shot, injecting it as Jess’s heart races uncontrollably.
Jess
(in pain)
Stop! You’re going to kill me!
Dr. Smith listens to the chaotic rhythm with his stethoscope, reveling in it. Jess’s heart falters, then flatlines.
DR. SMITH
(panicked)
No! Not now!
He begins CPR, performing multiple rounds of compressions and AED shocks, his desperation mounting.
DR. SMITH
(screaming)
Come back, Jess!
But the flatline persists. Dr. Smith collapses beside Jess, his obsession having pushed him too far, leaving only regret and the relentless tone of the flatline.
